Advanced Make Up Course

The Session SchoolLength: 6 Days

The Advanced Make Up Course is ideal for students who have already completed basic make up training and are looking to specialise in fashion, beauty and advertising make up. The programme looks to encourage and develop students' creative potential. Working in small groups, students will study advanced creative and high end fashion techniques.

Please note students are expected to bring their own make up kits and professional brushes. (Make up kits are available to purchase at The Session School on day one of this course). We also advise students to bring a sketchbook/ideas book with research images from books, magazines, history, art and catwalk shows to use as inspiration during the course.

Taster ClassWe ask that all applicants provide proof of previous experience.

Upon completion of this course you will be fully qualified to:

  • Further a career in the freelance fashion, advertising and celebrity industries
  • Work as part of a backstage catwalk team
  • Undertake editorial (magazine/newspaper) work
  • Provide bodypaint
  • Work with make up companies
  • Assist high end make up artists

The course includes:

  • A full day photographic shoot with professional photographer and models
  • A CD disc of your images for use in your portfolio
  • A list of industry contacts
  • A BABTAC accredited certificate
  • A wide range of materials and make up are available to use at The Session School for the duration of this course

The syllabus will cover:

Lesson One:
Lips Mineral Make Up

  • Understanding mineral makeup
  • Mineral makeup techniques
  • Creating looks with minerals

Lesson Two:
Lips Creative Classics

  • Modern Smokey eyes
  • Metallic pigments
  • Creating fashion makeup designs

Lesson Three:
Lips Vintage Beauty

  • Exploring 1920’S-1960’S looks
  • Blocking out and reshaping eyebrows
  • Reshaping lips
  • Contouring and highlighting
  • Transferring period looks to modern day

Lesson Four:
Lips Catwalk Part One:

  • Exploring colour for eyes, lips and face
  • Colour analysis
  • Creating texture with colour
  • Research for catwalk makeup designs
  • Designing avant garde looks

Lesson Five:
Lips Catwalk Part 2

  • Body art/stencils/pigments
  • Using found objects such as gemstones/feathers
  • Creating drawings on the skin
  • Making your own false eyelashes
  • Designing two looks for a photographic shoot

Lesson Six:
Lips Final Photo Shoot

  • Creating two looks for your final photo shoot
  • Working with a professional model and photographer

All courses run from 10am to 6pm with an hour for lunch
All courses are accredited with BABTAC and your final certificate will be a BABTAC accredited certificate
