Our courses are aimed at students who wish to learn professional hair styling for the fashion, television and music industry. We aim to give students a wider understanding of exactly what is required to become a successful "Session Stylist”. Armed with a variety of courses that are tailored to broaden your creative understanding of styling hair, both beginners and advanced stylists will gain the highest professional expertise.

As full time-session stylists and salon owners, their plethora of experience and talent has lead them to being key trustees with the tresses of A-list celebrities from fashion shoots to prestigious events.

The Professional Foundation Hair Course
(for beginners)

Our Foundation Hairstyling Course has been specifically designed for beginners with little or no experience who would like to build their Careers in Professional Hairstyling; particularly for the Fashion, Beauty, Media & Advertising Industry. This course also provides excellent Professional Hair training for "Weddings" and other "Special Occasions" & "Events". This is a very intense course that covers all the essential elements to provide the highest standard of Professional Hairstyling. This Course is offered WEEKLY (Mondays-Fridays) for 2 consecutive weeks... or as a PART-TIME Course at WEEKENDS (on Saturdays) -students are offered either option, so they are able to attend - whether working full-time or already studying elsewhere!

Our Foundation Course is suitable for absolute beginners. There are no qualifications (or even experience) needed to enrol in our Foundation Course. The most important quality we look for is for students to be 100% dedicated to our Course and to become as confident and practiced in "the Art of Professional Hairstyling". With that... and natural talent, our students will go far!

Please note: we only allow a maximum of 10 students per Course, each Term, as it is important for us to ensure our students are given the very best training, with a virtually one-to-one learning experience!

The FINAL DAY of our Foundation Course includes an exciting Professional "working" Photoshoot with a Professional Photographer and models. Our students are invited to create their final work photographs (provided on a CD) towards their very first Professional Portfolio! Portfolios are extremely important, as they represent yourself and your work when you "meet & greet" important contacts within the Industry.

The Foundation Hair Course covers the following essential elements of Professional Hairstyling, including: Introduction & Basic Hygiene / Structure & Anatomy of Hair / Handling of WET hair & the correct tools to use / Straight Hair Blow Dry / Curls - natural & styled / Ponytails / Hair Up / Plaits & Braids / Buns & Rolls / Blow Dry / Hair Extensions / Avant Garde /Editorial Looks / and the all-important exciting FINAL WEEKEND - "The Professional Photoshoot".

Level: The Foundation Hair Course is suitable for complete beginners.

*** The price of this course includes all training for the course, the exciting end of term Professional Photoshoot, and a basic Professional Hairstyling Kit comprising of the following Professional Hair Products: Professional hair dryer / Medium size tongs / 3 round brushes / Denman brush and paddle brush / 3 combs - tail comb, cutting comb, large tooth comb / 5 products / 4 section clips / 1 kit bag. NB: We also have plenty of hair tools and equipment (including styling products) for our students to use and experiment with at the School.

All our courses run from 10am-6pm (weekdays or at weekends). We offer our courses during weekdays or at weekends, so that anyone may attend, whether in full-time work or already studying elsewhere. From time to time, we will invite visiting specialists from various areas of the hair styling industry to assist with demonstrations and to offer advice, support and further essential information to help our students with their introduction into the exciting world of session work, as we feel it is important to offer our students a wide range of different techniques to learn from.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Session School and all our Professional Hair Courses have been registered, approved and accredited by HABIA. HABIA is the standard Governing Body for the Hair, Beauty, Nails and Spa Industries, and creates the standards that form the basis of all qualifications including NVQs, SVQs, Apprenticeships, Diplomas and Foundation degrees; as well as industry codes of practice (see Website: www.habia.org). Our Professional Hair Certificates are accredited by HABIA and these are awarded to all students who have successfully completed our Professional Hair Courses!

FUNDING FOR OUR COURSES:
There are many helpful organisations our students can apply to for funding for any of our courses (please contact us for more information). We strongly advise students to contact these organisations ASAP, as it may take a few weeks for the whole process to be completed, from start to finish.
